Services / Respite Care

We are here for you.

Caring for your loved one can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do, but it can also be one of the most demanding.

Respite care is an important service to use. It allows you to enjoy some downtime whilst safe in the knowledge your loved one is receiving the care they need.

Some caregivers support people with tasks like cleaning or shopping, whilst some take on a full-time role. Whatever you need, we’re here to help you.

What is Respite Care?

Respite care is designed to relieve caregivers of their responsibilities. You can have some downtime, catch-up with friends or wind-down on holiday. The choice is yours, but rest-assured, your loved one is in safe hands.

Importance of Respite Care

Letting someone else take over the care role for your loved one can be a stressful and overwhelming concept. However, if you’re a caregiver, you’ll know that caring for a loved one can be both physically and mentally draining. That’s why taking regular breaks is as important as the care you provide. Respite care is beneficial to both yourself and your loved one - you’ll return back to your duties relaxed and confident that they’ve received the right care. Your loved one will also feel happy that they’ve been supported by a dedicated individual who only wants to provide the best care they can.

Respite care can be arranged as soon as you need it, even in last-minute emergency situations. If you are ever in the situation between a personal emergency and needing to provide care, we will offer a solution. We can arrange specialist care within 24 hours, or even quicker in a crisis situation.

Different Types of Respite Care

Short Breaks and Holidays

Having a break is important, but it may not always seem possible. At Stepping Stones, we want to make sure that whenever you need a break, you’ll feel comfortable, knowing that your loved one is supported.

We often support people to go on short breaks holidays, or even day-trips with their family and friends, as we believe this important in providing essential care. At Stepping Stones, we support people with learning disabilities to stay at our local service for a short break or holiday. Whether you need a break to explore, do numerous activities or just to simply relax in front of the TV. Whatever it may be, we work with local organisations to help you plan the right holiday for you.

Support at Home

We can also provide domiciliary care for a person in their home. This might be due to caregivers needing to go away for work, or just simply needing a break. Whether it's for a short or a longer period of time, we can care for the people we support in the comfort of their own home.

Stepping Stones Community Living aims to foster a sense of community and friendships in an inclusive, stimulating and safe environment that has been set up to provide needed respite to families and young adults while improving life skills and life choices.
